The planet Workshops 2009 in Deauville
Highly prized since its creation in 2006, the International Sustainable Development Conference was held in November 2009 at the Royal Barrière, privately hired for the occasion, and at the Casino Barrière de Deauville. Feedback from a major event:
For this 4th edition, over 400 key figures attended the Planetworkshops from 26th to 28th November last year in Deauville. The participants spent 3 days debating on vital issues such as the definition of a North/South dialogue, Africa, biodiversity, eco-mobility, the challenges of CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility), the Copenhagen impact … Over 35 sessions were held at the Royal Barrière and in the plenary hall at the Casino Barrière, just a few hundred metres away. Our exceptional settings and the remarkable hospitality shown towards the participants both contributed to setting the scene for rich and fruitful discussions. The unity of place allowed participants to optimise time spent on-site. All the rooms at the Royal Barrière were used for the event including the 252 rooms and suites, both restaurants and the 12 meeting rooms.
For our hotel staff, the biggest challenge was setting up the adaptable areas in a short space of time. “The gastronomic restaurant was turned into a media room, the Royal Suite became a television set, the hotel’s jewellery shop became a radio studio and several suites were used by sponsors” explained Sabine Philippe, Head of Sales in charge of conventions and events at Royal Barrière. “We had to cope with unexpected changes in times and programs modified over night and re-organise areas on the spot” she added, delighted to have risen to the occasion with her staff.
